Note: Skill & Concept Lessons are only available with ThinkCERCA Premium. Please contact email@example.com if you're interested in learning more. They are currently under testing and development and will be available to assign to students at the end of August.
ThinkCERCA's Skill & Concept lessons are interactive lessons that provide instruction and practice in critical literacy skills. Lessons are discrete and differentiated for grades 3-12. Interactive questions are interspersed throughout the lesson, providing scaffolded checks for understanding as well as graded assessments. Skill & Concept lessons give students the opportunity to dynamically engage with a text through highlighting, dragging and dropping, and annotating. All Skill & Concept lessons are aligned to College and Career Readiness Standards.
How to Find Them
Skill & Concept lessons are filterable in the Lesson Library under "Lesson". To narrow your search, also filter by grade level or standard.
When to Assign Them
Skill & Concept lessons can be used as both an introduction to new material or as a platform to practice and sharpen skills that have been previously taught. Assign them in tandem with Applied Reading & Writing lessons based on each student's personal growth focus.
Skill & Concept Lesson Features
- Dynamic progress bar that indicates the instructional purpose of each screen. "Learn" indicates that students are learning concepts and practicing skills. "Check" indicates that students are going to be graded and assessed based on the question.
- Hints and rationales to support independent learning. Hints are optional and can be retrieved by students. Hints gently guide students towards the correct answer. Rationales are shown for each question after students answer the question correctly.
