"Entry/ Exit Tickets" help students summarize and reflect on a learned concept.
Entry slips can be used to reflect on a previous assignment/lesson, or to preview what will be taught in class that day. Exit slips give the student a chance to review what was taught and point out what needs clarifying. Both of these slips help the teacher in knowing what the students have gained from a lesson and what they need more support with.
Time: 5 - 10 minutes
Materials: Sticky notes, comprehension wall (create ahead of time)
Post a comprehension question.
Have students take a sticky note. Have them write their name on the back of the sticky note and their answers on the front.
Either collect the post-its for review, or create a comprehension wall in your classroom for students to place Entry/Exit Slips.
The students should then answer the question and place their post-it on the comprehension wall so that their teacher gets a sense of how students responded.
How to use with ThinkCERCA
This can be used as a followup to a CERCA Set, so that students can share their response, regardless of the leveled reading they completed.
